Welcome to Fall at the Cottage....

Welcome to our little cottage all ready for Fall.
Temperatures still in the 80's, but the Calendar says Fall....
Such is life in North Central Florida.
Tiny entryway . I tend to keep it simple.

Come on in....

Narrow Foyer. No space for a fussy vignette. I a using an antique wash stand and pitcher and basin as a Foyer table.

An arrangement of dried cattails and hydrangeas fill a wicker wine basket. Under glass, a found bird's nest with 2 faux eggs.

To the right of the Entryway, behind the half wall is the Dining Room

This room is always awash with sunlight and is the perfect place to end a day......
..... with fantastic company, delicious food and great conversation.
Table set for a fab Fall meal. Brown transferware sets the tone for Fall.
Vignette atop the china hutch. Tarnished silver, berries, hand-blown glass candle holders ans a white window box filled with the season's bounty of dried hydrangeas. behind this leans a vintage window in it's chippy glory.

Diagonally across from the Dining Room is the Family Room ( an open floor concept). This room is where we live...
A nice cozy room with a leather couch and 2 recliners flanking the fireplace.
2 recliners side by side, across from the leather couch.

coffee table dressed with tarnished silver, a vintage oil lamp, a candle and books

Fireplace and surround. Decorated for fall with vintage cameras, antique books, bronze statuary, berries, Fall sprigs and an antique oil lamp.

Leather couch, across from the recliners, that Master Vic calls his own.
Through the doors from the Family room is the Sun Room.

Sitting area in the Sun room.

Black iron dining table and chairs in the sun room. Through the windows, you can see the patio..
Back through the Family Room, we come to the kitchen. The true heart of the home....
Here are some Kitchen vignettes....

My open cabinet, showcasing my fave brown transferware dishes. 2 sets one I inherited and the other I acquired.
Mini pumpkin under glass....

Atop the cabinets over the stove...
Vignette above the 'fridge...

Vignette above the 'fridge and the cabinet above all that.

2 chippy vintage windows and a small wreath.

I hope you enjoyed the Fall bounty in our little cottage.

The rest of the home is being reworked , decor going from Tuscan to a softer more French Country Cottage. Will be revealed shortly.....

Thanks for popping by..

Happy Fall Y'all!!!

Cheers, Gee

  2. Hi, Gee! I just LOVE to tour people's homes, and this was a great way to do it long distance!!! You have made the entryway so charming and beckoning...who wouldn't want to go inside and take a peek at all the fall finery you have put out and about? :-) You have a very pretty house, and you have really done a lot of decorating for the season! I'm jealous! I don't get a chance to do much since I teach tablecscaping here in our home. Right now I have Christmas tables set up all over the place. It just takes all the fun out of the seasons when you have to be 2 or 3 months ahead. :-( I would love to be able to put little vignettes out all over like you have done, and then I would like for them to STAY there for a couple of months for us to enjoy them!!! Oh, well...such is life! I love your tarnished silver pieces! There's just something really fun about silver with that vintage patina. LOVE the old window panes, too!!! Enjoy your nice 80 degree weather. We are expecting our first frost tonight. Had to get out this evening and cover the flowers so they might hang around for another week or so. We'll see if they survive or not! Have a wonderful, relaxing Sunday, and thank you for the tour of your lovely home!

    1. Hello and Happy Sunday to you and yours as well Alycia. Just up from a relaxing nap.
Fall in North Central Florida is fantastic. The weather may not reflect the temperatures of Fall as it does in other parts of the country, but the light... oh the light is just something to behold. I paint, so I notice the light a lot. There is nothing like the clear light of Autumn. Pure and clear...
My home has had to adapt to include Master Vic now and thus the berries and [pumpkins have had to be placed higher as the little man luves to steal them. But yes, they are sprinkled throughout. Glad you popped by and visited.
      Cheers, Gee

    1. My favourite room is also the sunroom. Where I spend most of my time , especially in the cooler months. Did you happen to notice the tiles in the kitchen? I made those when the house was being constructed. e did a lot of the detail work ourselves. Might have to do a blog entry about them sometime.. they are made from drywall mud . I had so much fun doing it. Thanks for coming over :-)
      Have a wonderful evening.
      Cheers, Gee
